5D Mission is an artist collaborative featuring the photography of Jay Ligda.
As I go about my days, I’m constantly seeking new ways of seeing — unique perspectives that reveal the world in ways we often overlook. Photography has always been a tool for me to reshape perception, a two-dimensional window into a multi-dimensional reality which can become a metaphor for life.
My journey with photography began in the late 1980s as a creative exploration. Though I stepped away from the camera for a time, I returned in 2006 with the rise of digital photography — and in 2022, everything changed again when I purchased a drone. What started as a fun idea to capture aerial shots of our home construction project turned into a whole new artistic adventure. The drone opened perspectives that were once impossible to access.
Many of the photographs you see here were captured from the sky, through the lens of that drone. These aerial images are more than just unique vantage points — they are glimpses into a layered reality, snapshots of beauty and meaning that often go unseen from the ground.
